NVIDIA Gains In Desktop Discrete

Mercury's findings revealed a continued shift to integrated graphics from discrete graphics in notebooks in the fourth quarter, with integrated reaching a record 77% of total notebook graphics. On the desktop side, integrated as a percentage of total desktop graphics increased to 63% from 60% last quarter. Both NVIDIA and ATI gained share in the integrated chipset market, allowing them to stem any share loss and actually gain slight share in the overall graphics market, despite the continued shift to integrated. In discrete graphics, market shares were relatively stable, with NVIDIA gaining 1% share from ATI. However, in notebook discrete, ATI gained 1% share from NVIDIA to a record high, increasing its market share to 77.1% in the fourth quarter from 75.8% in third quarter.
